Dr. Edward Ginsberg was born and raised in Baltimore. Majoring in Biology, he received his undergraduate degree from Western Maryland College. Dr. Ginsberg attended the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, from which he graduated magna cum laude. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Certificate of Honor and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental fraternity, which is reserved for the top 10% academic average and service among dental graduates. Dr. Ginsberg was also awarded the American Society of Dentistry for Children award, which is the top prize given in children’s dentistry. He completed his post-graduate specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Maryland.

In 1984 Dr. Ginsberg founded the smiles4children dental practice. In 1985, he joined the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry as a part-time clinical assistant professor and is a member of the Dean’s Faculty. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Ginsberg has served as president of the Maryland Society of Dentistry for Children and the Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners sedation committee and is a member of the examination committee of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

As a member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Craniofacial Team he evaluates patients with cleft lip and palate, and other craniofacial syndromes. He is also on staff at Johns Hopkins, the University of Maryland Rehabilitative and Orthopedic Institute, and Sinai Hospitals. Dr. Ginsberg lectures frequently to dental students, residents, dental study clubs, and professional and community organizations on various pediatric dental topics.

Dr. Ginsberg is happily married and has two married children and four grandsons. His interests outside of dentistry are photography, skiing, biking, tennis, swimming, and spending time with his family.
